  • WA Meet & Greet – Royal Australian Air Force Association Bull Creek Estate – October 2025

    Introduction

We had a small gathering at Royal Australian Air Force Association Bull Creek Estate.
Quiet discussion in the restaurant section of RAAFA, while enjoying cold beers and a light lunch.
RAAFA is one of the Venue considerations following advice of Navy Club’s Sale.
President Mark Croom, of Fremantle’s Navy Club says “We are still open despite the recent sale of its building; however, the club is still operating while searching for a new place to lay down anchor. Never the less, we are continuing our search for new venue.
Discussions continue, and a venue in Central Perth, was identified. More on this following further investigation.

  • SA Meet & Greet – Port Adelaide Naval Association – October 2025

    Introduction

The numbers for this month’s Meet & Greet were down on our usual turnout. We only had 23 attendees, but all who attended enjoyed themselves as per usual. We were also pleased to be joined by a non-Greenie – Phil (Stretch) Stewart. Phil was an ex-cook/Coxswain/Docky Copper. I was a bit worried that he knew too many of the Greenies, so I’m wondering what they might have got up to in the past And as always, the galley turned on an excellent mixed grill for us.
Apologies outweighed attendees this time around. 27 in all. A mixture of reason – the start of the bowls season, travel (interstate and overseas), the DE reunion in Frankston and unfortunately ill health for an ever increasing number of our shipmates.
And before you ask. The Port Adelaide Naval Association was having a quiz night on Saturday night after our meeting and that’s the reason for all the blow up guitars!!

    Introduction

A good role up for our quarterly M&G meet at the Wynnum RSL with our best numbers for several get togethers. Thanks again to Steve Brown for the tubs of fresh lovely Honey as ordered. • NSW Meet & Greet – Merrylands RSL Club – February 2026

    Introduction

A merry time was had as usual with a ‘newy’ Greenie, Mal Peters joining us from Townsville.
A faithful, now expat “Queerslander”, Buck Ryan, also joined the frivolities as he was visiting Sydney town.
For the record, there were 262 ‘posted out’ invitations to NSW Greenies. About 10 bounce for various reasons. I then delete the email address, keeping the names/ contact details for posterity — from the original NSW list.
The original NSW List supplied to me by Darrell Hegarty (vale) many decades ago contained 309 names..
I thank those who are able to support the M and G. Do I have to put a keg on as an enticement for increased attendance??
Probably a waste of grog, as we “oldies” are now part of the non-handlers/screamers/gibberish brigade!!!!!!!!!

    Attendees list

Phil Croesse , Val Osis, Bob Allen, John Macmillan, Mal Peters, Mike Nash, Alan Ryan, Bruce Richens, Robert ( Proff ) Caudwell (expat USA ), Pete McGurk, Mike Kay.

    Apologies list

Rick (Dixie ) Lee, Ted Schloithe, Bob Harris, Graham Lang, David Buck, Greg Duncliffe, Mike Mason, Murray Baker, Kerry Spencer, Graeme Archer, Mike Kielty.

  • SA Meet & Greet – Port Adelaide Naval Association – February 2026

    Introduction

Thirty eight of South Australia’s finest Greenies gathered at the Port Adelaide Naval Association for our February Meet & Greet. This is the best gathering we’ve had for a very long time. We welcomed a couple of newbies in Brad Fitzgerald and Kevin Harrison. Clearly, the SA Meet & Greet is the place to be seen. Alongside our regular travelers of Kev McKerlie and Mick Cain, Kevin travelled from Florida, USA where he is now living. He had come home to visit his Mum and the dates aligned with our Meet & Greet so he was able to come along and catch up with a couple of old shipmates. An apology from another traveler, Eric Thompson (who lives in Victoria) and in all we had 15 apologies – sickness and travel being the predominant reasons.

    Attendees list

Peter Barton, Dave Betts, John Bolton, Michael Bornholt, Mick Cain, Andrew Clarke, Maurie Davey, Kim Daw, Mike Fisher, Brad Fitzgerald, Alan Fletcher, Phil Grotto, Gary Hale, Kevin Harrison, Steve Impett, Rob Kearvell, Ray Kemp, Bob King, Peter Lines, Mark Loram, Trevor McKerlie, Terry Norman, Michael O’Malley, Ian Peterson, John Phillips, Gary Potterat, Les Radford, Blue Reidy, Peter Richards, Wayne Rowe, Greg Smith, Bill Swan, Alan Tassel, Rob Vanagelis, Neil Walton, Graham Watson, Maurie Woods, Zep Zeppel.

    Apologies list

Richard Clark, Craig Ferguson, Trevor Hill, Bill Hollas, Peter Krollig, Gary Lang, Stewart McCluskey, Paul Normandale, Mal Parrington, John Sanford, Ed Skubala, Rod Spotswood, Eric Thompson, Warwick Williams, Mike Witcher
